About the Company
As a key member of the management team the Technical Agronomist supports the Farm Managers and Senior Management advising on and monitoring agronomic practices which may impact the programmed production activities or influence quality or yield.
About the role
Our client is a private wholly Australian owned and operated company, with its 2,400-ha home base property situated on the banks of the Murray River in northern Victoria in Wemen, 75 km south-east of Mildura.
Responsibilities
• Ensuring the optimum yield and quality of horticultural tree and broad acre crops.
• Identifying and leading innovative, and new variety development.
• Providing agronomic leadership and support to the Farm Managers in all commercial crops.
• Researching, analysing solutions to all agronomic issues impacting quality and yield.
• Working directly with Management to achieve production goals.
• Assist in developing the farms to achieve the company’s longer-term business objectives
Requirements
Education / Experience / Skills
• Qualifications in Agricultural Science or Horticultural Science are essential.
• Current Drivers Licence
• Current Chemical User’s certificate (not essential)
• Ability to understand the growth habits of horticultural tree crops, broad acre crops and vegetable crops
• An ability to plan for seasonal conditions and able to respond in a timely manner to climatic variations
• Computer literacy – full MS suite
