Opportunity for a Property Manager & Gardener to take ownership of an award-winning established garden
About the role
The owners of this award-winning garden are looking for an experienced and committed individual to come on board in a newly created position as Property Manager & Gardener to maintain their well-established grounds and surrounding semi-rural property. The property consists of 45 Hectares, but the focus will be on the magnificent 2 Hectares of gardens established 40 years ago.
With the owners off-site during the week you will spearhead activity and plans in garden maintenance and the other property assets.
It is envisioned that you will have enough permanent work 4 days per week, but the owners are flexible to consider applications from candidates with only 2-3 available in their current work commitments as they can mix this with other current casual staff.
There is the option to reside on the property in the 1 bedroom apartment style accommodation available.
Responsibilities
• Lawn and garden maintenance
• Trim and prune hedging, shrubs and trees
• Perform tasks such as planting, weeding, pruning, and watering
• Assess and repair garden irrigation
• Prepare soil, mulch, and plant beds
• Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment
• Manage contractors and suppliers
Requirements
Experience / Skills
• Experience as a gardener, landscaper, groundskeeping, or similar occupation is advantageous, however a passion for gardening is most important
• Strong understanding of lawn care principles is advantageous
• High attention to detail in performing tasks
• Chainsaw experience – trim and cut felled trees
• Sheep and cattle experience (desirable)
• Driver’s license (essential)
Remuneration and Location
• Attractive package to be determined based on experience, number of workdays and if accommodation is required
• Accommodation option: 1 bedroom apartment, including power and water
