Latta Farming Pty Ltd is a family-owned broadacre cropping operation located near Ouyen, Victoria. We grow wheat, barley, lentils, and canola, lupins, vet h and operate our own fleet of trucks and modern machinery across a fully integrated grain production system.

F.O.S – John Deere tractors, headers and sprayers (no Case gear);

We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanic / Assistant Operations Manager to play a key dual role in both our mechanical workshop and operational farm management. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with on-farm accommodation and a fully maintained work vehicle provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair agricultural machinery – tractors, headers, air seeders, and sprayers
• Maintain and service a transport fleet including prime movers and trailers
• Oversee workshop inventory, order parts, and perform welding and fabrication
• Support daily farm operations including sowing, spraying, and harvesting
• Operate machinery during peak seasons and assist with grain handling and logistics
• Supervise seasonal staff, ensure OH&S compliance, and maintain accurate records
• Liaise with suppliers, agronomists, and logistics coordinators

About You:
• Trade-qualified Diesel Mechanic (Cert III or equivalent)
• At least 3 years’ post-trade experience, ideally in agricultural or heavy diesel machinery
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills across hydraulics, air brakes, electrical, and GPS systems
• Comfortable operating a range of large-scale agricultural equipment
• HC or MC license preferred (preferred), forklift or telehandler ticket (desirable)
• Proactive, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and in a team
• Fabrication and welding experience highly regarded
