About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Sales Agronomist to join the team in Mundubbera, North Burnett Region, Queensland. They are a respected and growing agribusiness servicing one of Australia’s most productive citrus, tree-crop, and horticultural regions. In this role, you will support growers across a diverse range of crops and farming systems – including citrus, table grapes, avocados, macadamias, mangoes, stone fruit, forage systems, and mixed farming operations – by providing high-level agronomic advice, technical support, and crop input recommendations. You will drive sales growth, market expansion, and product penetration across Mundubbera and the wider North Burnett region. This is a permanent full-time position suited to a results-driven professional with strong technical knowledge and a passion for customer service and sustainable agriculture.

Responsibilities

• Agronomic Advisory: Provide high-level agronomic advice and technical support to growers through regular farm visits, crop monitoring, and tailored recommendations. This includes nutrition planning, soil and plant tissue test interpretation, irrigation optimization, integrated pest and disease management (IPDM), and overall crop management guidance to help optimize yields, crop health, and sustainability.
• Sales & Business Growth: Develop sales pipelines and territory plans (including product forecasting and budgeting) to meet agreed growth and margin targets. Achieve sales objectives by delivering fee-for-service agronomy programs with measurable return on investment for growers, and by identifying opportunities to drive sales growth, improve margins, and expand product penetration across key product categories.
• Client Relationship Management: Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of horticulture, tree-crop, and broadacre clients across the Mundubbera region, acting as a trusted advisor to meet their needs and ensure a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Represent our client at grower meetings, field days, and industry events across the North Burnett to strengthen client relationships and industry presence.
• Inventory & Compliance: Manage inventory levels with accurate stock control and regular stocktakes, ensuring product availability and effective merchandising of agricultural inputs in the branch. Adhere to all company policies and safety protocols, including AgSafe standards for the safe storage, handling, and transport of agricultural chemicals and other products.
• Administration: Coordinate orders, logistics, and deliveries to ensure timely and accurate service to customers. Complete all required administrative processes (ordering, processing, invoicing, and documentation), and liaise with suppliers as needed to secure product supply. Contribute to branch reporting and record-keeping to support smooth daily operations.
• Team & Safety: Work collaboratively with colleagues and management, contributing to a positive, team-oriented culture. Uphold workplace health and safety standards by following and promoting safe work practices, and ensure compliance with all company guidelines and industry regulations while demonstrating integrity and alignment with company values.

Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (tertiary qualification) in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in agronomy, horticultural production, or tree-crop agronomy (citrus experience highly regarded).
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of agronomic practices in horticulture and tree crops, including knowledge of crop nutrition, soil health, pest/disease management, and irrigation strategies. Familiarity with citrus production and the North Burnett region’s farming conditions is highly regarded.
• Sales Skills: Proven sales and account management skills, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and growing customer accounts. Demonstrated commercial acumen, including the ability to deliver fee-for-service agronomy programs that provide clear returns on investment for growers.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with growers, suppliers, and industry partners, and to work effectively as part of a team.
• Organizational Skills: High level of personal organization and discipline, with the ability to manage multiple clients and tasks efficiently. Demonstrated reliability in forecasting and maintaining accurate records (CRM data management and reporting).
• Computer Proficiency: Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data analysis, reporting, and record-keeping.
• Other: A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly within the region (a company vehicle is provided for work use).

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: $115,000 – $125,000 per annum (commensurate with experience) plus superannuation (12%).
• Company Vehicle: Fully maintained company vehicle provided for work purposes.
• Tools & Equipment: Company phone and laptop provided to support your role.
• Incentives: Eligibility for performance-based bonuses as part of the company’s incentive program.
• Employment Conditions: Permanent full-time position (minimum 38 hours per week), with all tools and support needed to succeed.
