About the Business
Our client is a progressive 10,000-acre mixed farming enterprise located near Streatham, Western Victoria, combining broadacre cropping (wheat, canola, faba beans) with a high-performing 10,000-head sheep operation.
They are equipped with a strong fleet of machinery including 2 modern harvesters, 5 tractors, a self-propelled boom sprayer, 4 trucks, and a 12m Boss Bar seeder with 12,000L Simplicity cart.
On-farm staff housing is provided.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cropping Manager to take ownership of our broadacre program. This is a mid-to-senior level leadership role that blends strategic planning with hands-on operations. You’ll be responsible for everything from crop planning and agronomy to harvest logistics and machinery maintenance – ensuring timely, safe, and profitable outcomes.
Reporting directly to the owner, you’ll lead seasonal staff and contractors, manage logistics from paddock to silo, and keep our cropping program running at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver the cropping program across wheat, canola and faba beans
• Operate and maintain farm machinery (harvesters, tractors, sprayers, trucks)
• Lead and supervise staff/casuals during seeding and harvest
• Manage harvest logistics including grain movement and storage
• Apply strong agronomic and WHS practices across all operations
• Record, report and contribute to continuous farm improvement
Requirements
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
• 5+ years broadacre cropping experience in sowing, spraying & harvesting
• Strong harvester and machinery operation skills
• Mechanical aptitude to maintain and troubleshoot farm equipment
• Leadership and communication skills to manage people and contractors
• HR driver’s licence (HC desirable), Chemical User Permit (ChemCert/ACUP), current driver’s licence
• A proactive, safety-focused, and timely approach to seasonal farm demands
