About the Company

Topfield Farms Pty Ltd is a large-scale, family-owned agricultural business located in the Limestone Coast region of South East South Australia. The enterprise is one of the largest potato and onion producers in the area, supplying major food processors and fresh produce markets nationwide. With diversified cropping that includes onions, potatoes, cereals, and hay—as well as livestock operations—the business places strong emphasis on efficiency, sustainability, and workforce development.

About the role

Topfield Farms is after a skilled, reliable Machinery Operator who knows their way around a tractor and isn’t afraid to keep it running. This is a hands-on role across the full production cycle – and there’s genuine variety in it.
If you can plant straight, harvest clean and look after your gear, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

• Potato planting – your primary focus. Spacing, depth, population, row accuracy.
• Harvesting potatoes and onions – maximising yield, minimising damage.
• Spreading – fertiliser, lime, gypsum, to rate.
• Field prep – tillage, bed-forming, cultivation, ground prep.
• Day-to-day machinery maintenance – pre-starts, greasing, basic fault-finding.

Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills

• Solid experience operating ag machinery – planting, harvest, spreading or field prep.
• Mechanical aptitude. You can grease it, set it and sort the small stuff yourself.
• Current driver’s licence.
• A strong safety mindset and a good work ethic.
• Flexibility to work where the season takes you.
• Potato or onion experience is a bonus, not a deal-breaker. GPS guidance, ChemCert, or a diesel/ag-mechanic background will all put you near the top of the pile.
