About the role
Harvest Road is looking for an experienced Livestock Manager to lead cattle operations at Koojan Downs Feedlot — WA’s largest, and one of the most progressive feedlots in the country.
This isn’t just a job running pens. It’s a chance to help shape the future of feedlotting in Western Australia, inside a fully vertically integrated beef business (Harvey Beef, Leeuwin Coast) backed by six generations of agricultural heritage.
Main Responsibilities
(must be demonstrated in your application letter/resume)
You’ll take full responsibility for day-to-day livestock operations across a feedlot scaling up to 20,000 head — leading stock husbandry, animal health, infrastructure, and compliance, and managing the movement of cattle through to processing. You will lead and develop a high-performing livestock team, ensuring best practice standards in safety, animal welfare, and operational outcomes.
Harvest Road is moving Koojan Downs toward a genuinely green feedlot model — solar-powered, transitioning away from traditional fossil-fuel. This role sits right at the centre of that shift. If you’re someone who gets energised by driving change, not just managing around it, this is where that skill gets put to real use.
Education / Experience / Skills
• Proven staff supervision and leadership experience — documented leadership training highly regarded
• Confident, capable horse rider — this is a hands-on, in the pen with staff training
• Solid experience in large-scale feedlots (10,000+ head) — comfortable operating at commercial scale
• Working knowledge of Elynx feedlot management systems (FY3000 / StockaID) — minimum mid-tier proficiency required
• A genuine interest in sustainability and a “green” approach to modern beef production
• The ability to influence and implement change, not just follow process
• High emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and a track record leading diverse, mixed teams
• NFAS knowledge, low-stress stock handling, Vet Chem certification (or willingness to obtain)
• A long-term mindset — Harvest Road wants people who’ll grow with the business, not pass through it
